THE OPEN DOOR PROJECT

LET's TALK ABOUT IT

The Open Door Project is my labor of love, and an invitation to literally open doors to a too often closed topic of conversation: dying and death. As your friendly neighborhood death doula, I welcome you to explore these "taboo-but-shouldn't be" conversations in a safe and intimate setting. Our bespoke and uniquely crafted events endeavor to find creative way of exploring the topics that are too often ignored (and spoiler alert: it's not to anyone's advantage that we stick our heads in the proverbial sand around dying and death). So join me and your neighbors...come dip a toe in, and you just may find that life shines a bit brighter when death is invited in.

THE HOUSE

My family's well-loved home was built and previously owned by members of the
Hickey Family (Alameda residents since the 1800s). Dolores Hickey, the last family owner, died at home in 2016.
Her obituary states: "Dolores was very involved with her family, community and friends, she hosted many of the functions in her own home, she always made everyone feel welcomed."
